The pirates' way of life

Voltaire said long time ago that if there was the genius person among pirates that could unite all powers of pirates then they could conquer the whole America from the Southern Pole to the North Pole and could make the great changes in the politics of Europe and America.

For the last three hundred years there were a lot of works released in the Western Europe and America that were dedicated to the history of the West Indian pirates.

Filibusters used piracy to get the money for living. They never obeyed to anybody and they even had their own laws and traditions. Filibusters were becoming more and more numerous thanks to expansion and colonization of West-India. Their every-day life was controlled and regulated by the simple rights and the tradition. And when pirates were asked the reasons of their actions, pirates always answered that this was their law.

The main social activity of pirates was robbery. And all members of the piracy society were taking part in it. There was the ancient principle working in the every-day life of pirates that was "no prey no pay". Only the successful attack was the source of the main joys of pirates and the absence of prey put them at the limits of hungry death.

Attacking pirates made the special pact, called la "chasse-partie" in French that regulated the part of prey of the captain and a crew. And pirates that were especially active during the battle got the bonuses.
