Theatre of pirates

It is possible to find a lot of descriptions of the improvised theatre performances organised by pirates to waste the rime away. The similar preferences of theatre are usually supposed to be the characteristic feature of Thomas Anstis crew. Since childhood this sailor realised that everything must be beautiful in the person including his clothes and shoes that is why he became the lucky man.

The first data about him refer to 1718 when he went to the Antilles with Devis and other pirates. They mutinied against the present captain and chose their own captain that became Devis and started to rob people in the region of West India and Western Africa.

According to the historical data pirates made up performances and were acting in the theatre with great pleasure. They were attracted by the made up life of the characters and they liked unknown atmosphere of other worlds. Besides this was the good way of psychological rest and release of the energy. According to some writers the crew of Anstis liked the performances a lot and the captain was even satisfied with it.

And one of the most extraordinary things is that pirates were really good actors that acted their roles perfectly. The audience that was made by both pirates and ordinary people was generous in praise and disgust. It reacted vividly to all details of acting and performance itself. But at the same time the improvised performance and theatre changed into the riotous conduct that was really not similar to the things thought over by the director.
