Buccaneers

Buccaneers were often considered to be the pirates but in fact they are non professional sailors and the wild pigs hunters. But they are often confused with pirates because Englishmen called all filibusters buccaneers.
Englishmen conquered Jamaica half of the century before the French word appeared that is why they almost didn't understand its meaning and couldn't even pronounce it properly.
Buccaneers got this name from the word Buccan that meant the nets of the green tree that was used to smoke the meat that allowed keeping it for a long time in the conditions of tropics. The meat cooked in such way was also called Buccan. And they got the salt with the help of the fell.
Dutch, French and English ships often came to the ports where the buccaneers lived to change the buccan into the fell and arms. As San Domingo where the buccaneers lived was the Spanish island the owners of the island didn't like that and often attacked them.
But buccaneers were acting not only in the land but also in the sea. They were strong and willed and they had the possibility to stop the running animals and they even made the special breed of the dogs that could kill any Spanish one against which they fought.
Nevertheless buccaneers were not considered to be the pirates but were people who protected themselves.
